F.A.Q.
I’m a visitor. Can my child be a part of the ministry today?
Yes! We would love for your child to participate in our program! Please register your child at the Kid Zone Welcome Center.
When I get to the church, where do I go?
Please fill out a nametag for your child at the Kid Zone Welcome Center. Each child should have a nametag and each parent the security tag which is attached to the nametags. If you are new to GracePointe, there will be a short form for you to complete before your child can be admitted to a class.
I'm having a baby! What do I need to do to register my baby?
Congratulations! When your baby is at least six weeks old we will be happy to have them in the Baby Zone. All you need to do is fill out a short registration form at the Kid Zone Welcome Center and then get a security tag. We'll provide all the loving care your newborn needs while you enjoy the service. If you have further questions contact Terri Jackson at terri@gracepointe.net.
What should I bring for the Baby Zone and Toddler Zone
- Two or three disposable diapers. No cloth diapers, please.
- Pacifier or other item, should your child need it for security.
- A complete change of clothes, in case your child would require that.
- A bottle of milk, formula, juice or water. (This is a good practice even for mothers who nurse.)
What should my older child bring?
- A Bible
- Any MAP or activity sheet completed that week
What do I do when I reach my child's room?
A Classroom Manager will meet you at the door to receive your child and any other necessary items. Please check in and note any information that will help in caring for your child, such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies and special needs. All children must have a name tag before they can be admitted to a class. As a security precaution, a child will not be released without presentation of the assigned security tag.
How should I say goodbye to my child?
After you have completed the check-in process, simply wave a quick good-bye and leave for the worship service. As you know, it is normal for little ones to cry when leaving a parent. This does not last long, and separation becomes easier over time. Our Classroom Managers will immediately try to create interest in a toy or activity and give assurance that you will return after the worship service is completed. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we will flash your child’s security number on the screen in the Worship Service to let you know to return to your child's classroom.
Can I check on my child during service?
Feel free to check on your little one at any time during the worship service. However, we ask that you do so discreetly, trying not to let your child see you. Also, if your child needs you during the service, we will flash your security number on the screen during the Worship Service.
What do I need to do to pick up my child?
As a security precaution, a child will not be released without presentation of the assigned security tag. Please be sure that all personal items have been returned to you before leaving the premises. Lost and found items will be retained for a short time at the Kid Zone Welcome Center. Items not claimed after one month will be donated to a charitable organization.
What is being done to keep my child healthy? If my child is sick, can she still attend the ministry?
We operate a well-baby program. For the protection of all the children in our ministry, we cannot accept a child with a runny nose, fresh cold (four days or less), fever, rash, poison ivy, persistent cough, diarrhea, lice, nits or any other signs of illness. We request that you not place your child in the program while they are at risk of exposing other children. Thank you in advance for helping us keep our children’s environment a healthy place for all.
I'm a volunteer. I'm scheduled for Sunday, but I won't be able to make it. Who do I call?
We appreciate your taking the time to bless our children and their families. If an emergency arises and you are unable to fulfill your commitment in our Partnering With Parents program, please check with one of your team members and switch dates. Please contact Lisa Landon at Lisa@gracepointe.net or on her cell phone to let her know who will be filling in for you. You can also contact the Director of Children's Ministries, Terri Jackson, at terri@gracepointe.net or leave a message at the church office on week days. Terri can also be reached on her home or cell phone.
Thank you for your commitment to serving God and the families at GracePointe Church as you partner with our Staff.
I would like to volunteer with Student Ministries. How can I get involved?
We would be delighted for you to volunteer in some capacity! We are always in need of team members for the Children’s Set-Up and Tear-Down team anytime you are available! We also have many other areas where we’d be happy for you to serve. If you're interested in volunteering our VIP program is a good place to start. Contact Terri Jackson at terri@gracepointe.net to set up a personal interview or call the church office at 615-371-1609.
What is Baby/Child Dedication?
Child dedication is the act of giving back to God the gift He has given you as parents. It is an act of worship, thanksgiving, dependence, trust, and commitment. The practice of child dedication has been modeled throughout the Bible.
The Israelites brought their 8-day-old children to the priest for blessing. Hannah brought her long-awaited son Samuel to the priest Eli to dedicate him to the Lord (I Samuel 1:24-28). Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple for his dedication (Luke 2:22-39).
We believe that salvation only comes to a child through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is not passed on to a child through dedication. Parents covenant to raise their children by modeling Godly principles with the desire that one day, their children will receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
If you are interested in having your child dedicated, please contact Pastor Leila Borders at the church office at 615-371-1609 or leila@gracepointe.net.
