I’ve always wondered about that stoning thing in the Bible. I mean, how did it actually work? It doesn’t seem realistic that a person would just stand there and wait for the rocks to pummel them. Wouldn’t they try to run away? Would the stoners have to get a couple of big guys to hold...

He’s seventeen. I’ve known about him for quite some time. I sit on an HOA board in our neighborhood and have been painfully aware of the trouble he’s gotten himself into over the years. It’s been no secret to a select few of us that this boy has not had an easy life. A perfect...
A Life Less Ordinary

I’m a quote person. I relish in them. Biblical ones. Inspirational ones. Funny ones. Thought provoking ones. Quotes that make me pause, contemplate, cry, laugh, think…I have journals and journals of them. As a freelance writer, I work them into my pieces, I use them on handmade...
Dirty Hands

Four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. Seeing their faith Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child,...

There have been many crossroads in my life. In a lot of way there are crossroads for me everyday. Places where I must choose. I have to turn one way or another. Obviously some choices are bigger than others. It seems like the bigger ones in my life have taken years. Like it’s a big long,...

Part 3: The Tree of Life The wilderness, the unknown, the future – these are the things that trouble us throughout our lives. For many of us this existence is a scary thing. We try not to think about it so much but sometimes we can’t help it – or at minimum I can’t help it. So...
Fear: The other four...

Why Can’t We B...

I drove along Franklin Rd the other day, and began humming the old song “Why Can’t we Be Friends” to myself. I was re-stunned at how many churches are on that road. I lost count around 20. Check it out on Google maps, the amount of red pins was insane. And this is all...
The Loudest Voice

Election days are funny for me. My birthday is on the first of November which means that every other birthday of my life has the day of voting near it. Obviously this didn’t bother me for most of my life because Halloween takes way more precedent than voting for most of your childhood. When is it that you become politically aware? I think it happens sometime around the day you are too old to trick-or-treat. The first real political thing I can remember was when Dan Quayle incorrectly spelled potato(e). I am truly aware of five different presidents in my lifetime. I have voted for or against three. I grew up in Texas which is...
