Exactly Barbara ! Like God is a guide and there's more to see and know as we follow. It's like us following a parent through the journey of life and understanding them in a more complete way. To me God is so much more amazing and multi faceted that I have to keep open to even have a shot at a fuller relationship. It's not that God is changing, just leading us to bigger understandings....Ok, I've said the same thing now 3 different ways, gotta get more coffee..thanks for your comments Barbara, they are always great !

Most people I know who are fine with (or even insist on) their view of God remaining the same as it was 10 years ago would not see their faith as static. To the contrary, they would say they are actively engaged in trying to apply the teachings of Jesus to their lives. But you bring up a very interesting point...

Growing up, I was taught to follow a God who was clearly defined and unmoving. It wasn't Him, but me who should be in motion as I tried to follow Him & find more answers about Him. Mystery could be replaced by certainty.

But...if God is infinitely knowable, then it could actually be a sign of healthy faith to have more questions about Him as we mature – not less... is that what you're suggesting? And if we're not open to seeing Him differently as we get farther along the journey then maybe our faith has become static...

Definitely something I will mull over for awhile. Thanks for another challenging post, Glenn!

I love the line "Anything we say is a snapshot of a passing moment". I find that to be true and while we are deluged in a world that sees faith as a destination and not a journey. A thing to be right about and not to allow faith to expand us, well, it's wonderful to hear a line like that. I applaud Frank and you too Aaron, for reading and searching for your truth's in from various sides of the conversation. you are shaping your tomorrows right now.

i love this idea... and i have felt it too. i think this blog is holy!

i had to look up the definition of 'holy' once because it was just a word i'd heard my whole life but never really understood. my understanding of it now is that something that is holy is something that stands apart... it's different... it's special. that's why we call our Bible a holy book. it's different than other books. you can shake 19 people's hands doing business during the day, but then shake the hand of an enemy and well... that's a holy handshake.

for me, things in this life that are holy are little bits of Heaven - glimpses into the Kingdom of God. like the lady in the picture at the top, when you smell your favorite flower and that feeling of happiness comes over you for a moment; when you look into the eyes of the one you love and feel just as much love entering your heart as it is exiting; when something makes you laugh... REALLY makes you laugh. i believe these are gifts. when i think about what Heaven must be like, i remember those moments and the way i felt and think, It must be like that... ALL the time - AWESOME.

glad your voice is on this blog, shari!

i have to say, i'm about 50/50 on this subject. when things work out for my good, it's so easy to say, "wow, thank God i lost my keys and got stuck in that traffic jam rather than being the cause of it!" but i have to wonder about the people on the other side... the people that DID get in that deadly car accident... or the people that died on that plane crash Barb referenced. what must they and their families be thinking about God??? i bet they're wishing God made them lose their keys or miss a flight.

it's a confusing logical dilemma we're in. i believe that God is the source of all good. but if he's saving me for goodness sake, then why is he letting someone else die??? it's hard for me to understand why God would choose to intervene sometimes, but not all the time. or why would He choose to intervene for me and not for someone else's loved ones.

so then i fall back on the saying "[stuff] happens!" but that's not quite right either... exactly how much or how little is God involved in the details of our lives? is He the sliding doors Doorman? some think absolutely. some think not at all. i guess i'm sort of in between :)
